Dr. Justin Grant Johansen (Dr. Grant) is a native Arizonan and a graduate of Chandler High School. He earned a Bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University, as a Biology Major and Chemistry Minor. While attending BYU, Dr. Johansen met, fell in love with, and married his wife Kara, who was a dental hygiene student. During this time, Dr. Johansen also fell in love with serving people through dentistry. This happened while serving at a community health clinic providing discounted services to those in need. Seeing the impact that a happy, healthy, and confident smile can make in a person’s life sparked his desire to become a dentist. Dr. Johansen then obtained his D.M.D. degree at A.T. Still University-Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. He also earned a Masters degree in Public Health from A.T. Still University. There he had many opportunities to work in community health clinics and learn from some of the best clinicians in Arizona and around the country. During his clinical rotations around the nation, Dr. Johansen honed his clinical skills in order to provide a safe, painless, and quality dental experience for all types of patients.
Outside the office
Dr. Justin Grant Johansen (Dr. Grant) was a member of The Boy Scouts of America, where he obtained the Eagle Scout award. He then served a two-year, full-time mission in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Johansen enjoys all types of sports including, wake surfing, snowboarding, golf, tennis, soccer, and biking. His favorite sport is Volleyball and regularly plays in tournaments. He has participated in the Phoenix marathon twice and has a goal to complete an Ironman triathlon. From his time in the BYU ukulele club, Dr. Johansen enjoys the calming effect of playing the ukulele. Dr. Johansen serves the community through his church service and volunteering, as well as remaining active in the Boy Scouts of America program. If you’d like to know more just ask him!
